A vote is small and it’s yours — use it.

What to learn

Register, learn what’s on the ballot, and actually vote — as a habit, not a one-off.

The problem it solves

Voting gets skipped out of friction or cynicism, and the skippers are governed by those who didn’t skip.

How to teach it

Teach a child

Walk the mechanics: how to register, how to learn the whole ballot beyond the headline race, where and how to vote. Take them along when you go. Frame it as a standing habit, not a single dramatic act.

Teach yourself

Register, do a little homework on the down-ballot races that actually touch your life, and vote every time — the habit matters more than any single election. Opting out doesn’t remove you from the outcome; it removes your say in it.

Done when

Is registered, informs themselves on the ballot, and votes as a regular habit.

In the framework

The clearest lever the social contract hands a citizen. Using it is how “alongside others” becomes a say in the terms, not just compliance with them.
