Cook a week of meals

Feed yourself for a week on purpose — plan, shop, cook, repeat.

What to learn

Plan, shop for, and cook a week’s worth of meals — the practical loop of feeding yourself sustainably.

The problem it solves

Day-to-day scrambling makes eating well expensive and exhausting, so it collapses into takeout.

How to teach it

Teach a child

Show the loop — plan the week, make the list, shop, batch-cook — so eating well becomes a system, not a nightly panic. Let them run a week themselves.

Teach yourself

Plan a week of meals, shop once against a list, and batch what you can — the system turns eating well from a daily decision into a solved problem. It’s cheaper, healthier, and far less taxing than winging it.

Tactics that teach it

Make It a System adult habit

For anything on a rhythm, build a routine or automation — don’t rely on remembering.

Recurring upkeep — laundry, bills, checkups, oil changes, account reviews — survives on systems, not willpower. Put it on a schedule or automate it so it happens whether or not you feel like it; decide once and let the routine carry it.

Done when

Plans, shops for, and cooks a week of meals as a repeatable system.

In the framework

Sustained self-maintenance is a system, not a heroic effort: you feed yourself well by design. A cooked week is the body cared for on autopilot.
